Posture of Heart IV... Practice: Contemplative Study
“Not everyone reads the Bible. Those who do read it (and other holy texts) and who do so as a practice, seem called —disposed— to study with relish, not all the time but as the Spirit moves them. Their attraction to God’s word seems a universal discernment, or receptivity, to the sublime light shining in the soul.
...Because the Spirit alone opens to us the scriptures (Luke 24:32), we can alter the old contemplative direction; go sit in your room, read, study your Bible, and meditate as the Spirit moves you. And the light and warmth of the Spirit will teach you everything you need to know."

From Posture of Heart IV... Practice: Contemplative Study
Oh, this is very good. Being a reader of "holy texts" and Scripture, but never having considered that as a contemplative practice, I can see myself in much of what you're sharing.

The cover says it all, and takes me back to teaching days. What a wonderful reminder that children are quite naturally and "contemplatively" inclined...

Perfect timing! This blesses me, and I shall chew on little bits of this as the holidays roll on.

This new Monograph (IV) somehow leads me into deeper spiritual waters; it's slower reading, I stop more to "chew on things", and then excitedly continue... it reminds me what I know I need for my best times of insight.

I must tell you, the excerpt from Monograph IV {in your Listserve Letter} went straight to my soul. I have let outside forces prohibit my daily reading of the Holy Word. Thank you for jolting me back to where I long to be and most importantly, where I learn and feel God's presence revealed to me the most (along with prayer).

Rather than bore you with my true confession of time wasted, I will simply say that I was very moved by your message and sampling of the Monograph; I feel it was truly meant for me to read, almost as a "writing on the wall."

Although I don't often send you feedback, please keep sending these materials. It is hard for me to articulate what I feel about these contemplative issues, but I sense that you - like me - live and breathe for the inner life... [and]...thank you for encouraging us to live a profound inner life.

Your E-Letter, sent so sparingly, is most welcome... I really love the Q & A sections. Please keep that portion of it... as it helps me understand your directions, values and intentions.

How wonderful, as you say [in the Fall '09 E-Letter] that your site is not interactive... that these contemplative ideas are just that: ideas to edify people who are self-reliant, deeply thoughtful and God-centered.
